About the Press
Not all press printing technologies are equal. At Mpix, we use only the highest quality materials and processes so that you get the best product possible. Image Adhesion
Our Kodak Nexpress uses Dry Ink technology. The Nexpress employs a polymer toner that, when fused, is melted or liquified and pressed into the paper fibers with heat and pressure, which allows for excellent image adhesion. This is different than other presses that might use an Electro-ink technology that causes poor image adhesion, resulting in the image being easily scratched off the paper. Image Life and Image Yellowing
When you are creating beautiful books, cards, and calendars for your special memories, you want to know that they are going to last more than a few months or a few years. Fortunately, with the Dry Ink technology that is used in our Kodak Nexpress, your keepsakes are fade resistant in room light conditions for 75 years and in "dark-keeping" conditions (such as Photobooks) for 100+ years. Highlight and Shadow Detail Reproduction
We want your images to have the clarity and vibrancy that you intended. When using our Kodak Nexpress to create your press products, your images will receive the highest reproduction of details available on a press. Other presses might be marketed as having a more "offset-like" look and feel because of their use of the semi-dissolved toner mentioned above, but those types of presses are also widely considered to be inferior in terms of fine detail reproduction, which is especially noticeable in the highlights and shadows. This limitation is related to the toner image and adhesion challenges. Because small dots of toner adhere poorly to the paper, highlight and detail reproduction suffers. |
