Yes! Today, most smartphones take high enough quality photos to print in a variety of sizes. Just make sure you’re uploading the original, full resolution photos. Photos from a text or photos pulled off social media typically do not print well, as files are compressed.

We accept png and jpg files. You can also upload HEIC files when using the Mpix app on your mobile device. You can see resolution requirements by print size in the below chart.

We can print custom sizes for our photographic paper prints only. If you have images that are not sized to our standard print sizes, you will have to place them on a canvas in Adobe Photoshop to get the desired size. If you have Adobe Photoshop, this video offers step-by-step instructions.

If you do not have Adobe Photoshop, there is one other workaround for larger prints. You can order 11x17" and 12x16" prints with our Custom Print Collage templates.

Yes, we can print and frame many of the more popular panoramic print sizes. Available panoramic print sizes include: 5x15, 10x20, 5x30, 8x24, 12x24, 10x30, and 12x36.

Our photographic and giclee paper options are all professional print papers that have high archival value and excellent color reproduction. The main difference between the two options is the finish that you prefer for your images. 

Giclee papers can print in options of high gloss, semi gloss, deep matte, and fine art matte. These are all smooth print options aside from the fine art matte that would have a subtle watercolor paper texture. 

Photographic e-surface paper has a semi-gloss finish and is the most popular choice for traditional photo prints. This is a great option for everyday photos and professionally taken photos.

E-surface and metallic paper are both professional grade papers, both traditional laser prints.

E-Surface paper, our most popular paper type, is a semi-gloss that will have a sheen, but is not considered glossy (in between matte and glossy). This is most like a traditional photo print.

Metallic paper has a high gloss finish, saturated colors, and metallic reflective sheen. Metallic paper is great for automotive, urban, and some architectural photography. Any images with very high contrast color would look great on metallic paper. We don’t recommend framing metallic prints with glass, as you will lose the metallic look.

If the image is not sized correctly for the print size you are ordering, the image will be center cropped. We do not offer a crop to fit option so you would have to resize the image to our standard print sizes or use the Crop/Edit tool to adjust the image for how you would like it to print. See the FAQ ‘Do you print custom sizes’ for more information on resizing.

Yes, you can add white borders to most of our popular print sizes. For both photographic and giclee prints, you can choose to add a white border to your prints during the print ordering process by selecting “Finishing  & Border” or “Border”. A 1/2" or 1/4" white border will be automatically added to your print. The size of the border depends on the print size selected.

Lustre coating adds a protective layer for the print. It will add protection against UV rays and fingerprints. Lustre will also add a bit of shine to a print. If you are displaying your photos without glass, we recommend adding lustre coating for added protection.

Archival printing means that we print on papers that should retain their color and quality for 100 years when displayed inside and 200 years in dark storage.

You receive free online storage of your images with Mpix for 18 months (548 days). This period can be extended another 548 days by placing an order of any kind with us. In the event you do not place an order for 548 days, all of your images will be deleted. When you are ready to order again, simply reupload your images.
